Meet Darren Myers, Parasound VP R&D / Sterea Chief Innovation Officer

Posted by David Sheriff on

Darren Myers brings a legacy of innovation and refinement to Parasound and Sterea. With a resume that includes some of the most respected names in high-end audio, Darren’s engineering mindset is as elevated as his passion for music.

A Track Record of Innovation in High-End Audio

  • Bowers & Wilkins / Classé Audio: Contributed to cutting-edge Class D amplifier topologies and redesigned the active crossover in the legendary Nautilus loudspeaker.
  • PS Audio: Spearheaded the design of acclaimed models like the Sprout100, M700, M1200, Stellar Phono, and future PMG Series gear. These earned awards such as Stereophile’s Analog Product of the Year and The Absolute Sound’s Amplifier of the Year.

Areas of Expertise: Critical listening, objective analysis, signal path design, amplifier topologies (linear and non-linear), power supply architecture, signal conversion, and loudspeaker/crossover design.

Passion Sparked Early

“I’ve had the audio bug since I was around 16 years old after hearing a Wilson Audio and Audio Research system. From then on, I knew it was what I wanted to do.”

Sound Bath for the Senses

Darren sees sound reproduction as more than circuits—it’s a deeply human experience.

"Sound has the power to evoke vivid, synesthetic experiences—where invisible forces radiating throughout the room create colorful, holographic imagery and bathe us in vibrations that directly affect our nervous system."

Thoughtful Design, Intentionally Human

Darren’s design philosophy is rooted in the belief that audio should not only measure well—it should feel transcendent.

“Music has the capacity to transform our states and take us to another place—whether that’s the time or place of the recording, a shift in mood, or a unique moment shared in real-time. I’m driven to refine and expand this experience so that anyone—regardless of age, curiosity, or technical knowledge—can feel how high-quality sound can enrich their life.”

A Life in Music, Art, and Discovery

Outside the lab, Darren is an avid vinyl collector and supporter of local arts nonprofits. His curiosity knows no bounds—constantly exploring new subjects that inform his intuitive, human-focused approach to audio design.
